Hi, I’m Jeanne Ferrando, a NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am the founder of Hudson Counseling Services located at The Great Room of Tarrytown in Tarrytown, NY.
I provide individual therapy to all of my clients both for in person sessions and via Telehealth online services. My mission is to make professional counseling accessible, affordable and convenient - so those who struggle with life’s challenges can get help they need when and where it works for them.
My style has been described by those I've worked with as warm, understanding, no nonsense, supportive and informative. I work from a client centered perspective, meaning that I focus on where my clients are starting from and where they wish to go.
I work with clients who have broad backgrounds but all bring a strong desire to make real changes in their lives. The process of change is really more of a conversation where you get to steer the discussion; my role of a therapist is often to help you find the best way to manage your life and challenges. One of the most difficult discoveries we may encounter is when we recognize coping skills we previously used are no longer working. Seeking new skills, having the patience to learn them and getting support through that time is extremely important. In individual therapy we explore patterns of behavior so that in moving forward you can use new ideas or look at situations in a different way.
I have been practicing clinical social work for the past eighteen years. My vast experience includes working in the medical and psychiatric field, specializing in adults of all ages, and servicing a wide variety of individual cases. Additional credentials in working with those dealing with depression, anxiety, grief/loss and difficult life stressors.
I spent six years of my career at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical center in New York City and White Plains, NY. It was where I worked alongside world-renowned physicians, nurses, and social workers caring for patients with a variety of complex issues. I advanced my social work skills including advocacy and outreach for adults who suffered from acute medical and psychiatric conditions and complex family systems.
I have perfected a special quality to see through a person’s vulnerability and developed specific plans to help the entire being rather than just the issues with which a person may struggle. Continuing my efforts in the field, I work at Westchester Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Center and specializes in Adult Psychiatry.
I proudly help my clients manage their physical and mental health issues by sorting through a multitude of diagnoses including depression, anxiety, mood disorders or memory problems.
My clients consistently recognize me as a trustworthy clinician who helps them navigate a complex healthcare system.
I am calm force who can intervene during a crisis and help guide a client and their family members through their emotions and feelings. I like to describe the services I provide as "above and beyond" what the average therapist delivers.
